How to Give a Foot Massage to a Woman |

If you don't already give your wife or girlfriend regular, spontaneous foot rubs, you are missing a great opportunity. From her perspective, a good foot massage (and it's almost impossible to give a bad one) not only feels great, but it's also a tacit acknowledgment of the rigors of modern womanhood. If she's a stay-at-home mom, there's no better way to express your appreciation for all the hard work that job entails. If she has a career, a foot rub can be a political statement, expressing your solidarity and outrage that society still forces women to wear nonsensible shoes. Semper commodum! Hoo-ah! After a good foot rub, she'll feel relaxed and appreciated, and you'll get a blank check for any number of otherwise forbidden activities. If you're still not convinced, then just think of a foot rub as a great hand-strengthening exercise. A simple, ten-minute workout can improve your golf game, your jump shot, and also allow you to stay out late with the boys Saturday night. There are some tricks to giving a great foot rub, but remember that any foot rub counts, so don't worry too much about it. Step 1: Ask your wife or girlfriend what she would like and wouldn't like. The foot can be a touchy subject, and you don't want to start off by making her feel uncomfortable. She may prefer to have socks on or soak her feet first. Or the toes may be way too ticklish to touch. Before beginning any foot massage figure out what she wants ahead of time. Step 2: The right pressure is key to a good foot rub. Go too light and it may be too ticklish, too hard and it can really hurt. Sit on opposite sides of the couch facing each other, hold her foot in both hands, and give a firm overall massage of the entire foot. Then, with your thumbs underneath and fingers wrapped around on top, apply a rolling pressure with your thumbs to the entire sole of her foot. Be careful not to pull or stretch the skin on top of her foot, which can be very painful. Just work on kneading the fleshy part of the foot, working from front to the back. You may want to pay particular attention to the heel. Step 3: Using a massage cream can make your job easy. Find a cream with mint and/or eucalyptus, which can do amazing things to soothe aching feet. Just gently rub some of that on and your work is pretty much complete. Step 4: You may also want to move her feet and toes through their full range of motion to loosen up the joints. Do this carefully, and make sure you don't force any joint beyond its natural range of motion. As you extend her foot forward, toward you, work your thumbs gently down between the tendons on top of the foot. Step 5: If she feels comfortable with it, massage the toes individually, and in between the toes. Ā Tips: As with all endeavors involving physical contact, pay attention to her reactions. If she turns to Jell-O, you've found a good spot. If she pulls away quickly, you've probably found a sensitive spot that can either be ticklish or particularly sore. Sore spots may need extra attention, but you've got to be gentle. Ticklish spots may be handled with firm, steady pressure, or should be avoided altogether. Once again, it proves to be so easy to please her, and to get something out of it for yourself. Just remember when you're out with the boys and they want to know what you did to get a free pass from the wife or girlfriend, you may want to embellish a bit. Ā |
