Eating out in London is never that easy to accomplish. There are so many considerations of which to take account, that the majority of people simply pound the streets until they find a restaurant that they like the look of. This can be costly, and it does not always guarantee a good experience. Rather, there are much better ways of finding a restaurant; you just need to know what to do. Here, we explain how to find your ideal restaurant in London.

1.    Work out where you want to eat: by this, we mean location. It is better to condense your search to a specific location, this way you will have much less choice, therefore making it easier to find the restaurant that suits your needs for the particular occasion. Otherwise, you will have to search hundreds of thousands of restaurants, or simply return to the tried and tested ‘walk around until you find one you like’ technique. Here, then, for example, if you know you are catching a West End show, search online for restaurants in the West End.

2.    Work out what type of food you want to eat: London is known for its eclectic mix of restaurants, there are hundreds of different types from which to choose. You can opt for the more traditional types of restaurant, selling good old British Grub (fish and chips, roast dinners, burgers and chips, and anything with beef!), or you could opt for the common, but less traditional restaurants, (Indians, Chinese, Korean, Malaysian, French and Thai). Alternatively, you can opt for the much more unusual restaurants (Scottish, including the Haggis and batter menus, they even sell battered butter! How decadent; or the novelty restaurants, such as pitch black dining experiences, or medieval banquets). To find the type of restaurant you want, simply type in the desired style in the Google, or with a local online directory, you will find a lot of wonderful restaurants this way, and they are far easier to find that they are by searching on foot.

3.    Work out your budget: London is an expensive city, and you may be surprised by the prices you find. However, there are restaurants that cater to all budgets, from the very small, to the very extravagant. The best place to find prices to restaurants is to use an online directory. These often list restaurants and feature menus and prices. This will enable you to get a much more accurate idea of how much a given meal will cost.

4.    Work out who you want to go with: The best thing about eating in a restaurant is the company. This, clearly, is up to you, but you should choose your restaurant in reference to the type of people you are eating with. For example, you do not want to have a romantic meal at a banquet style restaurant where there is no privacy; but you will not want to have a large, party-type dinner, at a quiet restaurant where you have to keep the noise down.
