Sometimes a guitarist will find thier gutar is out of tune, at a time when you have no electronic tuner available to use. It is in this situation that you can tune your instrument "realatively". The instrument may not betuned perfectly to scale but it will be tuned perectly to itself.

Step 1. Begin with the upper E string and tune it as low as you can get it without the string buzzing. This wont allow for perfect tuning but it should get you by in most instances.

Step 2. Fret the E string at the fifth fret and tune the next string down, the A string to match the fretted E string.

Step 3. Fret the A string at the fifth fret and tune the next string down, the D string to match the fretted A string.

Step 4. Fret the D string at the fifth fret and tune the next string down, the G string to match the fretted D string.

Step 5. Fter the the G string at the fourth fret and tune the next string down, the B string to match the fretted G string.

Step 6. Finally fret the B string at the fifth fret and tune the last string down, the E string to match the fretted B string.

Step 7. Try it out for sound and make any minor adjustments to suit your tastes. Now enjoy your work and sharpen your axe skills, anytime.
