When you want to record a broadcast off the Internet, use audio recording software that is capable of recording online radio stations, TV shows and podcasts from your personal computer. Save money by using freeware and shareware versions of audio and multimedia recorders that's available on the Internet. Make certain that you select a software application that can record Internet broadcasts from various websites such as Last.fm, Pandora, iTunes Radio and AOL Radio.

Instructions

Step 1:

Download and install the latest version of an audio recorder software from the Internet. Freeware and shareware such as StationRipper, CamStudio, Audacity and Virtual Dub can be used for recording Internet radio and TV shows. Before you download an audio and multimedia recorder on your personal computer, make certain that it is compatible with your Windows operating system.

Step 2:

Follow the audio recorder software's instructions for installing its files on your personal computer. Look for the software's executable icon on your desktop after the installation is complete. Double-click on it to run the audio and multimedia recorder.

Step 3:

Go to an online radio station's website of your choice that you want to record an audio broadcast. For example, if you want to record a song that is playing on Last.fm, you can convert it into MP3 format by using an audio recorder software like StationRipper. First, you will need to create a user account with the online radio station music service.

Step 4:

Click on the “Start Your Profile” button on the homepage. Type your username, current email address and password in the appropriate text boxes. When you are finished entering your information, click on the “Create My Profile” button. Don't log out of your Last.fm user account and return back to StationRipper.

Step 5:

Click on the “Last.fm Site” button that's shown in the left-pane. The music service will automatically load in StationRipper's interface window. Scroll down the Web page and click on the “Radio” hyperlink. Type the name of your favorite artist in the search box and then click the arrow button.

Step 6:

Wait until the Internet radio station loads several of the artist's song tracks. You will be able to listen to the songs and record them, too. Click on the name of a song track that you want to record. In a few moments, the song track's recording information will appear near the bottom of StationRipper's interface window. Click on the “Record” button. StationRipper will begin ripping and recording the song track.

Step 7:

Click on the “Exit” button when you are finished recording the song track and save the music file on your computer. You can also register a copy of StationRipper and pay $19 to unlock the software application. Then, you will have access to all of the software's features.
