Various methods can be used to back up the photos on your BlackBerry smartphone. For example, you can either use an online photo backup service to store your BlackBerry photos, or a Photo Email application that instantly sends the photos on your BlackBerry to your email account. But, if you prefer to back up your BlackBerry photos on your computer's hard drive, use BlackBerry Desktop Manager to back up all of the data on your phone.

Instructions

Step 1:

Install BlackBerry Destop Manager on your computer. You can download the software application from BlackBerry.com. Double-click on the application's icon and follow Windows installation instructions. After the installation process has finished, look for the BlackBerry Desktop Manager icon on your desktop.

Step 2:

Connect your BlackBerry smartphone to an open USB port on computer. Use the USB cable that came with your phone when you purchased it. Double-click on the BlackBerry Desktop Manager icon to open the application. Select the “Media Manager” option. After the window interface box opens on your desktop, you can begin selecting photos on your BlackBerry smartphone that you want to copy and back up.

Step 3:

Right-click on your desktop and select “New” and choose the option “Folder” from the menu list. Select the photo images on your BlackBerry smartphone that are shown under “My Devices.”  To copy and transfer multiple photo images on your computer's hard drive, hold down the “Ctrl” key on your keyboard and click on each photo image that you want to back up.

Step 4:

Release the “Ctrl” key and use your mouse to drag the photos to the “New Folder” that you created on your desktop. You can also transfer your BlackBerry photos to any location on your computer's hard drive. Double-click on “My Computer” and choose the file path and folder where you want to copy and transfer your BlackBerry photos.

Step 5:

Right-click on the “New Folder” and select the option “Rename” from the menu list, and create a file name for your BlackBerry photos. Move the file folder to another location on your computer's hard drive. Because photo images can use up a lot of memory space, it's always a good idea to store your BlackBerry photos on an external drive, such as a removable hard drive, or a USB flash drive to preserve the memory space on your computer.

Step 6:

Unplug and disconnect your BlackBerry smartphone USB cable from your computer.
