Introduction:  This is a easy recipe for Concord Grape Pie. This pie used to be very time consuming to prepare, as the skins and seeds had to be removed from the grapes. The grapes would have to be cooked and a pie crust would have to be made from scratch because in those days, prepared pie crust were not available in grocery stores. My Grandmother labored to make this pie because everyone loved it. Thank goodness, in our time, we have bottled grape juice and can make this pie quick and easy.  Enjoy!!

You Will Need For The Pie:

2 cups concentrated concord grape juice

1 cup sugar

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 1/2 tablespoons butter or margarine - melted

1/4 cup all purpose flour

2 tablespoons corn starch

large bowl

one 9-inch pastry shell - unbaked

one 9-inch pie plate

Step 1.  In large bowl, mix grape juice and sugar until sugar is dissolved; add lemon juice and butter; mix well.

Step 2.  Mix flour and corn starch together; add to juice mixture a little at a time till well blended. Pour into pastry-lined  pie plate.

You Will Need For The Topping:

1/2 cup all purpose flour

1/4 cup sugar

1/3 cup butter or margarine - room temperature

medium bowl and a fork

Step 1.  In medium bowl, mix flour and sugar; cut in butter with fork until crumbly. Sprinkle over pie filling.

Step 2.  Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until crust is lightly brown. Cool pie completely before cutting.

Tips:  Have a napkin handy as the mouthwatering aroma fills your kitchen. May omit topping.

Warnings:  Always use oven mitts to remove hot pie plate from the oven.
