Introduction: As the holidays are fast approaching there are usually a few uncooked sweet potatoes sitting around the kitchen that are in need of a good recipe, so why not make some sweet potato soup from scratch? Below you'll find all of the basic information that is need to make this wonderful soup - one that is nearly impossible to make incorrectly. The important thing here is to taste the soup constantly while it is being cooked, adding a pinch of this or that so that the end product is truly tailor-made so that it will get the "thumbs up" from the entire family.

Step 1: The basic ingredients for making sweet potato soup are:
2 large sweet potatoes that have been peeled and cut into small cubes
1 medium sized onion diced
2 pieces of celery diced
1/2 bell pepper diced
1 banana pepper diced
32 ounces of chicken broth
8 ounces of water
1/2 teaspoon each of salt, black pepper, cinnamon, brown sugar and white sugar
6 ounces of whole milk and 2 ounces of cream mixed in the same cup
2 ounces of salted butter

Step 2: Place all of the ingredients into a soup pot except for the milk, cream and butter and cook on medium heat for 50 minutes covered, stirring occasionally.

Step 3: Remove from heat and place half of the contents into a blender for 10 seconds on blend and then return them to the soup pot. Allow the soup to cool for 15 minutes and then add the milk, cream and butter slowly while stirring the soup constantly and thoroughly.
