How To Decorate Your Pumpkin

With Halloween fastly approaching, I thought that I would explore some different ideas for decorating your Halloween Pumpkin.  Pumpkin are called Jack O Lanterns.  This is because they are opened up and a candle or light is placed inside.  However there are other things to do with a pumpkin, as well.

Step One;  Select pumpkins that are of the proper size and shape that you want for your project.  If the pumpkin has a soft or weak spot, do not use it.

Step Two;  Clean the outside of the pumpkin.  Use regular water and dry rags.  You want to get rid of all residue on the outside of the pumpkin.

Step Three;  Make sure the pumpkin is dry, before doing any art work on it.

Step Four;  Gather you art supplies.  You will stencils, paints, paint brushes, paint, stickers, decals, scissors, tape measures,  carpenter pendcil, a scharp knife, glue, glitter and newspaper.

Step Five;  Sketch out or find the design that you want.

Step Six;  Layout your newspaper and place your pumpkin on it.

Step Seven; Paint your entire pumpkin.  You can yse either spray paint or paint and brush.  Set it aside to dry.  Once it is dry, do the side that wasn't finished (bottom).

Step Eight;  Use your pencil and stencil and make your dedign on the side of your pumpkin.  Now simply free hand the paint inside stencil.

Step Nine;  You can also use glue and glitter to liven up your pumpkin.

Ideas;  You can make several different designs and place them for display in or outside your home.  You could make pumpkins with leaf designs on them.  You make them to look like Christmas ornaments.  You make them to look like basketballs, golf balls, soccer balls and volleyballs.  You can place words on them.  You can do patriotic designs on them.  You can place other images , too.

Be creative and use your artistic ideas and do something different.
