INTRODUCTION

Why do I call this hands down the easiest bread you will ever make?  For one, very little kneading is used, and I show you an old trick passed down from my grandmother that makes kneading bread dough easy - anyone can do it.

The other reason is that this recipe is self rising as it cooks, no setting the dough aside to rise, then pounching it down and letting it rise a second time, you simply mix the ingredients and it's pretty much ready to go into the oven.

THINGS YOU WILL NEED

4 cups flour

1 to 2 tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 cups milk or half and half

2 teaspoons vinegar (cider or white)

1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons honey (I use natural raw honey)

mixing bowl's

flat silver baking sheet

STEP 1

preheat oven to 385

STEP 2

Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix.

STEP 3

In smaller mixing bowl add milk, vinegar, and honey, stir.

STEP 4

Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stir until dough forms and no longer sticks to side of bowl.  You may need to add a bit more flour to the mixture.

STEP 5

Knead dough.  Here is a trick my grandmother taught me that makes kneading dough easy.  Sprinkle a flat area with flour.  Place your bread dough onto the area, and simply squeeze the dough between your fingers, keep doing this for desired time, in this case, about two minutes.  You don't want to over knead the dough.

STEP 6

Sprinkle flour on a silver bake pan or cookie sheet.

STEP 7

Place dough onto the silver pan, and shape into the form of a long loaf of bread,  about two inches thick and about a foot long.  It sill look flattened out, but in the oven it will rise.

STEP 8

Carefully place bread into your preheated oven.

STEP 9

Allow to bake for about 30 minutes.  When done, bread will be golden brown, and hollow sounding when tapped.

STEP 10

Carefully remove bread from hot oven and allow to cool.

STEP 11

While bread is still warm, rub top and sides with butter.

TIPS

Remember to add the vinegar, this is iimportant for the bread to rise

If you want sweeter tasting bread, add a little more honey

WARNINGS

Always use care when working around hot stoves or ovens
