How to Make A Honey Baked Ham

Ever wonder how the Honey Baked Ham from the store always tasted so good and you just wish you knew how to make it? Well there is an easy way to make Honey Baked Ham and will save you money. With a few easy steps you should have a perfect Honey Baked Ham that taste like it just came from the store.

Things You'll Need

*  1/2 Cup Water or Orange Juice
*  1 Cup Honey
*  1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
*  1/2 tsp Dijon Honey Mustard
*  1 Fully Cooked Ham
*  1/4 Cup Ground Cloves
*  1/4 Cup Dark Corn Syrup (Optional)

1. Preheat your oven on bake to about 325 degrees. Depending on your oven type, you may need less or more heat.

2. Place your ham on a pan lined with foil. Now take a knife and score your ham (meaning cut the outside of your ham into about quarter sized diamond shapes). This is going to help the honey glaze to settle in to the creases of the ham, letting the flavor sink into the meat.

3. Place your 1/2 cup of water or orange juice, 1 cup of honey, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of Dijon honey mustard, 1/4 Cup Ground Cloves, 1/4 Cup Dark Corn Syrup into a sauce pan.

4. Heat up the glaze on top of your stove on a low setting until all the ingredients are fully mixed together and warm.

5. Take a cooking brush, and brush the glaze all over your ham. Make sure that it is getting into the cracks of your ham as well(the places where you scored the ham).

6. Pour the rest of the mixture all over the ham.

7. Place a thermometer into the ham.

8. Place ham into oven. Bake it for about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

9. Every 10 minutes or so, you will need to baste your ham with the glaze at the bottom of the pan.

10. Right at the last 5 minutes of baking your ham, make sure to turn on your broiler. This will caramelize the glaze on the ham.

11. Take out your ham. Make sure that the thermometer reads 130 degrees to make sure it is fully cooked.

Let cool for about 15 to 20 minutes, serve.

*  If you wish, before serving, you may decorate your Honey Baked Ham with pineapple and cherries. This will also enhance the flavor of your ham.
