Introduction: Chipping or breaking a tooth can be a horrible experience, but what if you can't find a dentist right away? Here are some tips to make the experience of chipping a tooth a little less painful and traumatic.
Step 1: Determine how badly your tooth is chipped. If it is just chipped a little and it isn't causing you any pain, you can actually use an emery board to file down any sharp edges. But if your tooth is cracked and causing you pain, then you need to move on to step 2.
Step 2: If your tooth is cracked it's probably hurting due to exposed nerves. You can't fix a cracked tooth on your own, but believe it or not, you can seal the chip with Krazy Glue. Just place a tiny drop of it on the cracked area and wait about 20 minutes (which is enough time to let it dry). The nerves won't be so exposed so this should help relieve the pain.
Step 3: Okay, lets say you REALLY hurt your tooth. It's broken. You can put the broken pieces of your tooth in cold milk. Milk contains sugar compounds that can keep tooth cells alive for up to 72 hours, which should be plenty of time to find a dentist to fix you up. But unfortunately, if your tooth is this damaged there isn't much you can do own your own to stop the pain.
Warnings: If you decide to use Krazy Glue be very careful not to ingest any of it. You also don't want to accidentally glue your tooth to your lip or anything like that, which would just make the situation worse.
