How to tie a Palomar fishing knot

In this article I will Explain how to tie a successful Palomar fishing knot step by step.

Instructions

Run your fishing line through the eye of your hook.Pull the line through about 8 inches.

Take the end of the line and run it back through the hook eye.Pull it through about 8 inches so you have 8 inches on the loop side and 8 inches on the open end.

Take the 8 inches on the loop side holding both layers of line and tie a regular cinch not with the side with the open end.Be sure to hold both layers of line together on both sides of the hook eye.But do not cinch the line tight.

After you tie the cinch not make sure you do not cinch it tight just yet. Then you take the loop that you have left and you stick your hook through the loop.

After the hook is ran through the loop you need to moistened the whole knot with water or your mouth.Once the knot is moistened hold both ends of the line and pull tight.

Once you have the main knot tied it doesn't hurt to put a simple safety cinch knot with the remaining line. Now you have a knot that will not slip or break.Clip the extra line off and go fishing.

Tips & Warnings Although this is a good knot there are quite a few others you can use. Be very careful when working with hooks they can be dangerous.
