Laptop  A laptop is a must because it can go almost anywhere. My laptop doesn’t leave my house unless I’m on vacation, but it still a very useful tool. One thing that is natural but eats up precious time is the bathroom. This is a perfect time to let nature take it course and get some writing done.  Some people find this gross and I really don’t know why, is not like the computer is getting any of my personal business of it. For me it’s a great way to pick up an extra half hour a day in writing time.  Pen and Paper  Pen, pencil, and paper are more or less stashed in places where I may have free time. In my glove box there is a pad of paper and a pencil. Any time I’m in the car waiting, it gives me time to write.  Going to a doctor’s appointment usually means we have to wait, so I pack a pad of paper and pen or pencil in my purse as well. Now I don’t mind the long wait because I’m busy working as well.  TV Time  TV time is another time when I can write. I simply watch TV and write at the same time. If something is really interesting I may not write until commercials, but most of the time I can do both. If you use this method, make sure to proof read when not watching TV and before publishing to catch errors.  Work Down Time  Working on a computer during the day time gives me an advantage as well. During our down time at work I just open up Microsoft Word and start typing. I don’t get into trouble because I still do my job first, writing is just something to occupy my time until the phone rings or the next assessment is asked of me.  Overall if you find enjoyment from writing there are lots of times where writing can easily fit into your daily life. It is important to balance family life and writing. We don’t want to forget about the family.

Writing is more of a hobby or part time job of mine. I work a full time day job; have two boys and a husband to worry about plus all the wonderful joys of a “to do” list of a home. Yet I do my best to balance the time and continue to find time to write and make a nice profit as well. Here are some ways to add more writing time to your day.
