Dirt cake tastes great and can be made many different ways.  This recipe is one that allows children to help their mothers make the cake since they will be making the cake in flower pot and then adding gummy worms.  Keep reading for this very simple and easy way to make Dirt Cake and spend time with the kids!

Ingredients:

1 (20oz) package chocolate sandwhich cookies

1/2 cup butter, melted

2 (3.5 oz) packages instant vanilla pudding

3 cups milk

8 oz package cream cheese, softened

8 oz tub frozen whipped topping thawed

Using a blender or food processor, crush 2/3 of the cookies. Stir in the melted butter, and then press into a medium sized flower pot.  In a medium bowl, stir together instant pudding and milk, chill in the freezer until thickened.  Using an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese into the pudding. Fold the dessert topping into the pudding mixture by hand. Spread over the prepared crust. Crush the remaining  cookies in a blender and sprinkle them over the top of the pudding layer. Chill for at least 4 hours before serving.  Allow your children to do the work with the cookies and then add the gummy worms where they want to. They can stick them down into the cake to make it look like they are coming out of the ground or simply lay them on the top.

If you do not want to prepare the cake in a flower pot, then simply substitute with a 9x13 inch baking pan and layer as mentioned above. You can still allow the children to do what they want with the worms, that it is totally up to you.

This is one of those cakes that requires no cooking at all! For us busy mothers, that is wonderful!
