Introduction:

Decorate with branches for Christmas.  Tree branch arrangements are a frugal way to add interest and drama to your interior decorations.  You can create a branch centerpiece for under $5.00 by utilizing what you have and then purchasing a few materials. Branch arrangements that are sold at stores sell for much more.  Learn how to create an eye appealing branch centerpiece by following these tips.

Step 1

Collect branches that are 18 to 24 inches in length and are 1/8 to ½ inch in width. Clean off the branches by removing leaves and other small branches,

Step 2

Spray the branches with pesticide to kill all insects.  Do this especially if you intend on displaying branches inside your home.  Allow the branches to set overnight.

Step 3

Prepare to paint the branches by selecting an area that has good ventilation.  In cold weather I will use my garage and will leave the door open.  Lay down a plastic tarp and set the branches on top of the tarp.  Spray the branches white.  Allow the one side to dry before turning the branches over and painting the other side.  I use enamel paint, as it gives the branches a shine. Allow the branches to dry.

Step 4

Gather your decorating products: silver and gold glitter, spray glue and decorative vases to hold the branches.  I like the silver color plastic urns that look vintage.  You can also use crystal or white vases.   Select a vase or urn that will compliment the branches.

Step 5

Spray the branches individually with the glue: hold the branch in one hand then spray with the other. Continue to hold the branch and apply the silver and gold glitter with the other hand.  Apply the glitter slowly to prevent a buildup of glitter in one section.  Place the branch in a urn or vase to dry.  Continue the application step until all branches have been decorated with the glitter

Step 6

Display the branches in urn or crystal vase. Place the branch displays on your mantle, or feature as a Christmas centerpiece for your table.  Drape fresh balsam greenery around the base of the vase and then place crystal prisms and votive candles in silver or gold candle holders on top of the greenery.  When you light the candles the glitter on the branches will sparkle.

Tips:

The winter white branch centerpiece can be featured all winter.  No need to remove until spring.
