When it comes to decorating our homes for  Christmas and for winter many people decorate for the season using the traditional colors of red and green.  However if you choose to decorate with a winter white theme you will find that the colors: white, gold and silver will last until spring.  Decorating with a white theme is elegant and inviting.

You can incorporate your Christmas tree with the decorations and after Christmas is past remove the tree and leave the remaining interior décor items in place.  A white theme is less work, eye appealing and you will enjoy a quite holiday atmosphere that is blended quite nicely with evergreen tree, swags and wreaths.

Step 1

Determine your color theme: will you decorate your home with cool blues, silver and white or will you choose the color theme of white, gold and silver. These are the colors that will transform your home into a winter wonderland.

Step 2

Select the rooms in your home that will feature the winter white color theme.  Decided if your will decorate the rooms that have the most traffic; kitchen, living room, dining room, foyer and guest bathroom.  These rooms are where guest and family gather and would make a dramatic impact if they were all the same theme.

Step 3

Use what you have by taking out an assortment of crystal glasses: wine and water glasses.  Also select crystal or decorative clear glass vases, jars, frosted glass or white dinnerware, candlesticks, votive candles, scented tea lights, clear or frosted glass beaded candle ring and your silver serving trays.  These items represent winter.  The beauty of these items will blend lovely with the evergreen, like feshly fallen snow. Use these items to decorate your home for a white christmas.

Step 4

candles

Create unique candle holders from your wine glasses.  Turn the glass upside down so that the flat side is facing up.  Purchase from hobby store accent clear décor pieces; stars and small trinkets.  Use your hot glue gun to attach the clear decorative trinket to the edge of the flat section of your glass.  Allow the clear trinkets to dry before placing a winter white candle on top of the glass holder.  Display the crystal candle holder on your mantle, in your foyer in the center of your coffee table.

Step 5

Add touches of balsam greenery to your mantle and other focal areas.

Step 6

Fill crystal jars or vases with silver or gold ornaments and place the jars in area where you need color or interest

Step 7

Recover your sofa with white, silver or gold slip covers. Also use accent pillows that will compliment your color theme

Step 8

Decorate your Christmas tree with a winter theme.  Incorporate the colors of your winter theme and illuminate the tree with clear lights.

Step 9

Drape balsam garland that is decorated with clear lights, silver or gold ornaments and elegant ribbon down your stairwell. The Decorative garland will be a focal point in your home.

Step 10

Set your dining table with a white, damask tablecloth.  Fold the matching napkins and place gold or silver chargers under your clear glass plates.  Create a focal point centerpiece by placing a large candle in the center with crystal jar filled with ornaments on each side of the candle.  Then drape fresh balsam around and in-between the centerpiece.  Accent the display with crystal trinkets for interest.

Tip:

When you complete your winter white theme the only lights shining should be your clear lights that are illuminating the crystal and the silver and gold ornaments.

This article is great for us Californians. We don't get to see snow unless of course we visit Lake Tahoe! But I guess at least we can decorate our homes using your tips to get a feel of the white winter. 5*
