How To Make Quick Drop Biscuits And Chocolate Gravy |

Introduction: One of my favorite childhood memories was going to Grandma's house to spend the night. It was difficult for my brother and I to go to sleep, knowing what Grandma would be cooking us for breakfast. We would wake up to the smell of homemade biscuits in the oven. Grandma would make us chocolate gravy to go with the biscuits. My brother liked to slop up the gravy with his biscuit, while I preferred to break open my biscuit and dribble the gravy on top. Recipes have come a long way since Grandma's day, but just as good today, as I have carried on the tradition of this tasty treat with my own grandchildren without spending so much time preparing it. Enjoy!! You Will Need For Biscuits: 2 cups self rising flour 1 cup milk Baking sheet (or) pan Vegetable spray, large bowl and a slotted spoon Instructions For Biscuits: Step 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Step 2. Spray the baking sheet with vegetable spray. (don't be stingy) Step 3. In bowl, mix flour and milk until blended. Step 4. Drop heaping tablespoonfuls of dough onto baking sheet1 inch apart for crusty biscuits, nearly touching for soft-sided ones.. Spray tops well with vegetable spray. Step 5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Makes about 20 biscuits.
You Will Need For Chocolate Gravy: 2 cups milk - plus some 3/4 cup sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 2 heaping tablespoons flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons margarine 1 teaspoon vanilla Medium sauce pan and small bowl Instructions For Chocolate Gravy: Step 1. In sauce pan, heat 2 cups milk. In bowl, mix sugar, cocoa, flour and salt; stir in enough extra milk to make a smooth paste. Pour into warm milk. Cook and stir over moderate heat until thickened. Remove from heat. Step 2. Add margarine and vanilla; mix well. Tip: Not into making the biscuits, you can use can biscuits or rolls. Warning: Always use oven mitts when removing baking sheet from the oven.
