How To Make Rose Water |

Making rose water is simple, fun, and it has a variety of uses. Spritz it in the middle of the room for a quick room freshener. Spray it on your face for a pick-me-up. A couple of shots on your linens will allow you to inhale the aroma all night.  You can easily make rose water from your garden roses. If you don’t have any roses, visit your neighborhood florist and choose from the most fragrant varieties.  When picking from your garden, choose the roses early in the morning when they have the strongest aromatic production. Pick as many as you think you’ll need to cover the bottom of a large stockpot.  Place a stockpot or large pot on burner. Turn a cereal bowl upside down and place in pot. Set second bowl right side up on top of first bowl.  Now fill the bottom of the stockpot with water. Make sure it’s enough to cover the upside down bowl. Turn the lid to the stockpot upside down and place it on top of pot. You want it to be concave to drip the water in to your top bowl.  Add ice cubes to the lid. Turn the heat on low. Allow to steep for as long as it takes to reduce the rose petals to mush. Throw out the boiled down rose petals. You can add more rose petals and repeat the process as many times as you wish. Keep adding ice cubes to create more steam. This will give more fragrant rose water too.  Be sure to keep an eye on the upper bowl, as this is where the rose water will collect. You don’t want it to overflow. Pour the rose water in to a jar or container to store.  Pour collected rose water in to a spray bottle. Keep capped containers in the refrigerator during the summer. The rose water will be chilled to give you extra refreshing spritzes during the heat! Enjoy the scent of a rose garden in your home for weeks to come!Â
