How To Make Sourdough Dinner Rolls With A Bread Machine

Introduction:  The aroma of Sourdough Dinner Rolls baking in the oven at Grandma's house would bring us back year after year for Thanksgiving dinner. Natural breads are good for you. These dinner rolls are easy to make using your bread machine.

You Will Need:

3/4 cup warm water - 110 degrees

1/2 cup starter - room temperature

3 cups all purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 tablespoon active dry yeast


You Will Also Need:

Rolling pin

2 inch biscuit cutter or glass

Baking sheet



Step 1.  Place all ingredients, in order, as listed above in the bread maker pan.

Step 2.  Place pan in the bread machine. Select the dough menu, then push start.

Step 3.  When dough cycle is finished, ( after first rise ) turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness.

Step 4.  Using a biscuit cutter or glass dipped in flour, cut out dinner rolls. Place rolls onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush tops with melted butter.

Step 5.  Let rolls rise, uncovered,  in a warm area until light, about 1 1/2 hours.

Step 6.  Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden. Place on wire rack to cool or serve hot .

Tips:  Best served hot with butter. When storing, wrap in a plastic bag. When storing for a long period, keep wrapped dinner roll in the freezer.
