Introduction:  The Sourdough Starter gives this bread an interesting flavor and texture. At our house, we use this bread to make delicious sandwiches. Natural breads are good for you and is very easy to bake in your bread machine. A bread machine takes all the work out of making fresh homemade bread.

You Will Need:

3/4 cup warm water - 110 degrees

1/2 cup starter - room temperature

4 tablespoons dark molasses

2 tablespoons butter - room temperature

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 tablespoon active dry yeast

Instructions:

Step 1.  Place all ingredients, in order, as listed above, in bread maker pan. Do not mix.

Step 2.  Place the bread pan in the bread machine. Set machine to bake bread menu, large loaf, then push start.

Step 3.  After baking, remove the bread from the bread pan and place on a wire rack to cool.

Tips:  When bread cools, wrap in a plastic bag to prevent dryness. When slicing, use a bread knife for best results. Bread slices easier when allowed to cool. When storing, keep wrapped bread in the freezer if storing for a long period.

Warning:  Bread pan is very hot. When removing bread from the pan, use padded kitchen gloves or a heavy cloth.
