HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE ENGLISH MUFFINS

What's better than English muffins in the morning? Homemade fresh English muffins! These are easy to make and great to eat you can even freeze them for up to 6 months after you make them. Homemade english muffins have so much more flavor than the store bought ones. Try them with your favorite jelly or jam, or just a little butter you willbe amazed at the flavor you will want to make these all the time.

YOU WILL NEED:

yeast

flour

sugar

butter

salt

cornmeal

milk

First you will want to dissolve 1 package of yeast in 1/2 cup warm water and add 1 tblsp. sugar. Then in a large bowl add 3/4 cup warm milk 4 tblsp. butter and add the yeast mixture to this stir.

Next add 2 1/2 cups flour and stir until well mixed. Flour a surface and knead your dough for 5 minutes. Then let dough rise until doubled. When doubled turn onto floured surface and smash down. Roll dough out on floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a cutter about 3 inches round and cut and set on a greased pan.

When done cutting out dip each in cornmeal then cover and let rise for another 1/2 hour. Last when done rising cook on an electric griddle at 300 degrees for a 10 minutes on each side make sure they are well browned. cool and cut in half. Toast and enjoy
