Martial arts are originally a combination of different techniques learnt for combat and self defense. Most martial arts such as karate, kung fu, tae-kwon-do etc, have forms which look like a beautiful choreography but in reality teaches you combat moves. The forms can be done empty handed or with weapons such as the nun chuck or sword or even a short or long stick to name some. The first basic forms that you will learn are the ones without the weaponry, and they can be short or long, but either way memorizing them will be important especially when practicing. You will need a notebook 1Learn the forms in different steps and divide the form in beginning, middle and end part. 2Practice the first step until you get a hang of it. 3Add the middle part to your beginning and practice until you get a hang of it. 4Add the last step and practice until you get a hang of it. 5As you practice each step write them down on a note book, when you write things seem to enter in your mind better. 6Practice on your own with your notes until you do not need them anymore.
