Introduction: A broken car horn is much more than just another aggravation, it can reduced a driver's ability to avoid accidents. A car horn can be repaired or replaced rather easily with a few good tips and a small amount of effort.

Step 1: The first step to repair a car horn is to look to see if the fuse that the car horn operates on is burnt out. If it is, a replacement may be all that is necessary to get the horn working again.

Step 2: If the car fuse is not the reason for the horn malfunction, lift the car hood and see if the electrical connections have come loose from the horn. If so, reconnecting them may correct the issue.

Step 3: If the car horn is still not operational, check the adjustment screw on the horn. Often times the adjustment screw works it's way out of position and the remedy is to simply turn the screw until the horn begins to work again.

Step 4: If the previous measures fail to correct the situation you probably need to replace the car horn. Purchase the correct replacement horn and then disconnect the electrical connections to the old horn. Remove the mounting screws and discard the broken horn. Mount the new car horn and reattach the electrical connections and then new horn should work just fine.

Tips: It's important not to jump to conclusions and immediately decide to install a new horn - if you can figure out why the horn is not working you can save both time and money.

Warnings: If it becomes apparent you lack the ability to replace the car horn, don't damage your car, take it to a trained mechanic.
