Here is a great way to make homemade ice cream with kids that does not use an ice cream maker. You can make homemade ice cream by using a sandwich zip-loc bag for the filling and a gallon bag for the ice. You only need a few ingredients to make this yummy ice cream; sugar, milk or half and half and vanilla. This is something fun and entertaining to do on one of those hot summer days. Make sure you do it outside to prevent a mess!
Ingredients needed for Homemade Ice Cream in a baggie:
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup milk or half & half
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 sandwich-size zip-loc bag
1 gallon size zip-loc bag
2 tablespoons rock salt
Directions for making Homemade Ice Cream in a Baggie:
Step 1: Put in a sandwich-size zip-loc bag; sugar, milk or half & halfÂ and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Step 2: Close bag tightly.
Step 3: Put in gallon size zip-loc bag; rock salt, the filled sandwich bag with mix, and ice cubes to fill the bag about 3/4 full.
Step 4: Shake and roll filled bag over and over until frozen; about 15-20 minutes
Crushed ice works better if you have it on hand.
You may add fruits or flavorings if you desire.
Warning:Â As the ice melts it does leak a little so do outside
