My husband does not like a lot of cakes, but he does like chocolate chip cookies.  This year for Father's Day we wanted him to have a big chocolate chip cookie cake, but if you buy them at a cookie store or bakery they can run you around $15.00.  So we decided to make our own.  Plus this was a nice way for the kids to get involved and make something for their dad.

All you need is 2 packages of the tear apart and bake cookie dough, such as Pillsbury ready to bake chocolate chip cookies.  We used a store brand for our cake.

All you have to do is spray a pizza pan really well with non stick cooking spray.

Then measure about 1 inch from the edge of the pan and start placing the individual cookie doughs in a circle around the pan, then fill in the circle with the remaining dough.

Then bake the large cookie in a 350 degree oven for around 25 to 30 minutes.  Keep an eye on it to make sure it does not burn.  Remember the cookie will continue to cook after you remove it from the oven a tiny bit so don't wait until the cookie is totally hard to remove the cake or else it will be too hard when it cools off.

Then either prepare some decorator icing or use some decorator icing from the baking aisle in the grocery store and decorate your cookie cake.  I let the kids decorate ours.  You could also get really creative and use some vanilla icing and make decorations or write things using chocolate chips or M&M's.

How you choose to decorate the cake is up to you.
