How to Make a Tornado in a Bottle

This is a simple craft project that kids can do to make a tornado in a bottle.  It's a fun project to make at children's parties or it might also make a good science project.

Supplies you need to make a tornado in a bottle:
1 16 ounce clear plastic soda bottle with a cap
2 drops of clear liquid dish detergent
1 teaspoon of glitter

Step 1:  Fill the clear plastic bottle with cold water.

Step 2:  Add the liquid dish detergent to the bottle.

Step 3:  Add the glitter to the bottle.

Step 4:  Screw the cap on the bottle tightly.

Step 5:  Holding the bottle by the neck, turn it upside down.  Then quickly rotate your wrist several times in a clockwise motion.  When you stop rotating your wrist, a mini-tornado will form inside the bottle.  You may need to practice a bit.

Tip:  For a special colored effect, you can add a few drops of food coloring to the bottle.
