Introduction: Its kitten season and everywhere you look there are kittens playing in yards, gutters and nearby streets. Millions of kittens are born each year and millions of kittens die due to accidents, neglect, or euthanasia. Only small percentages of kittens survive, they became feral cats, and live on the streets or they are adopted. If you see an abandoned kitten on the street, in a parking lot or by a dumpster pick it up, or set up a trap and take it home. Be a hero and save a kittens life by finding it a new home. Step 1: Take the kitten home with you and place it in a kennel with a litter pan, small blanket, food and water. Keep the kitten in area where it can see you. Step 2: Speak to your veterinarian about discount shots and deworming. Allow your veterinarian to check to make sure the kitten is healthy. By doing this the kitten will be more desirable for adopters.
Step 3: Design an adoption flyer. Pose the kitten in a flowerpot or snuggling in its bed, and then take a photograph. Download the photograph to your computer. Upload the image to the adoption flyer and add information pertaining to the kitten color, sex, approximate age, and characteristics. Include your contact information. Step 4: Email the flyer to all of your friends, co-workers and family. Also, take the flyer and post it on your church, library, and work bulletin board. Step 5: Take the kitten to pet friendly businesses that you support. Network your local area for potential adopters. Step 6: Place an advertisement in your local paper. Interview the adopter before turning over the kitten. Ask to be compensated for medical care. Shots and deworming. The fee will protect the kitten from being abused or being used for research. Tips If you are unable to foster the kitten, contact your local cat charity or welfare organization. Inquire about foster homes for the kitten in your area. Speak to your local Humane Society and inquire about placement for your kitten. Keep in mind that thousands of kittens are euthanized each year because there are too many cats and not enough homes for them. If you surrender, the stray kitten to the Humane Society there is no guarantee that the kitten will be adopted. Warning Refrain from taking feral kittens to Humane Society as they feel these cats cannot be socialized. Thus, the feral kittens are put into a high risk of being euthanized unless there is a foster home for them.
