Taking care of your horse is an important responsibility. They are just as important as your dog or cat. This article will give you five things that you can do, that your horse will really like.
1. How to untangle your horse's mane. (1) Make a spray by diluting tail and mane conditioner with water. Spray and work it in with your hands. (2) Find a section that has become entwined. Usually two sections twist and roll inward to form a spiral. Once you find the pattern untangle it. (3) Start fingering through the mane and work it out. Spray Equine- Shine into the mane and tail and work it out the stubborn knots. (4) Use a brush, but stop if you feel a lump. It could be a burr. (5) Brush the main and tail several times. Take your time doing this.
2. Talk to your horse. Repeat their name, as you talk to them. Keep your tone in an uplifting way.
3. Don't let your horse stand in water or mud. This can lead to the hooves cracking. Check often for hairline cracks, in the hooves. Keep the hooves from drying out around the coronet band.
4. Keep your horse from cribbing against a fence or gate. (1) Place them in a larger pasture. (2) Put another horse in the pin to keep them company. (3) Exercise your horse more. (4) With help from adults, string an electric (hot) wire over the wooden fence in question. Do this as a last result.
5. Discover what your horse likes. Some horses like having their ears scratched. Others like their nose rubbed. Soft patting on the horse's back or neck is good, too. All horses are different. You just have to find what your horse likes.
Finally, horses like small carrots. Instead of big carrots, use small carrots. For treats, always use healthy food. Remember, that once you treat your, they will always be looking for it as a reward.
These are just a few things that you can do to gain the confidence of your horse.
