If you have a car that you want to sell don't just slap a For Sale sign on it and let it sit there!  Take a little time to spruce it up a bit and you will get more money for it!  Following these easy tips can bring in $100, $200, or even $300 more than you originally wanted to ask for it!  You might even get buyers fighting over it!

Step 1:  Wash and Wax It!  I know this sounds like common sense but most people don't take the time to wash and wax a car before selling it!  A shiny car instantly makes it look like it's worth more!  Make sure you wash the tires too.  And don't forget the windows!

Step 2:  Clean It!  No one wants to see an empty bag of chips in the back seat of your car!  So grab a trash bag and take a few minutes to pick up all the garbage.  A clean car will sell more quickly!

Step 3:  Vacuum It!  Vacuum the entire car including the seats and the trunk. The better your car looks the more money you will get for it!

Step 4:  Get New Mats!  If your floor mats are old replace them.  New mats will make the entire floor look new by covering up holes or stains on the carpeting.  You don't have to get the expensive rubber floor mats.  Just the cheap plastic mats will be fine.

Step 5:  Do Spot Cleaning!  Try to remove any spots on the upholstery.  If you don't have any fancy spot remover just try soap and water.  Just a little bit of dish soap in a bucket of warm water is all you need.  Take a sponge and wet it in the bucket of soapy water and wash the stains away!

Step 6:  Make It Smell Good!  Spray the entire car including the trunk with any sort of disinfectant spray.  Then hang a new air freshener in the car.  You can look for a "new car scent" air freshener but if you can't find that just go with the standard pine scent. Nothing says clean better than pine!

Step 7:  Show Buyers The Receipts!  If you have the receipts for any work you had done on your car get them out and have them ready to show buyers.  If you can prove that the tires were balanced 2 months ago that's great!  And just showing the buyer that you have all the receipts in order will make them think you are one organized person and they will think you took really good care of the car!  Ca'ching!
