Finding methods to kill ants without harmful is becoming more important as concerns are growing about using mysterious products and poisons in our homes. The long terms affects are unknown and pesticides can be costly. There are many safe and natural alternatives.  Ant control is one problem which can be handled without dangerous chemicals and using different things from around the home. There are several home remedies you can use to get rid of the ants without hurting the environment or your budget.

1          Remove all food at the first sign of ants.  Food attracts ants so be sure to clean up any crumbs and put leftovers and snacks in containers with tight seals.

 2.           Use certain scents to repel ants.  They do not like certain odors such as vinegar.   Mix plain or apple cider vinegar with water and place in a squirt bottle with vinegar. Spray the mixture where you have seen the ants and let dry. It is non-toxic and the smell will go away in a few minutes. Other odors ants avoid are bay leaves, cayenne pepper,  peppermint oil, cinnamon, and black pepper.

3.         Pour baby powder on the ant trail to get rid of the ants without harmful chemicals.  Sprinkle the baby powder on the ants and where they are coming in from.  The powder will make the ants upset and then they will be gone.  Ants do not like powder especially scented talcum.

4          Mix equal parts of sugar and borax. Ants will carry the borax to their nest and this will kill them. Borax is used as laundry detergent and is a popular way to get rid of ants. Do not use this method in homes with pets or small children.

5          Locate where the ants are coming into the home and plug the holes with glue or soap.

6          Trace the ants to find their anthill and pour boiling water on the location of anthill. Pour as much as needed to kill the ants.

Tips:    Powder with cornstarch does repel ants

Warning:  Do some research to make sure these items are not harmful to your pets.
