Intro: Antique cars, such as the Model T, Ford in original condition or a reproduction, have a windshield that you may need to replace with an aftermarket part. Replacing the windshield will require you to take apart or disassemble the frame in order to install new glass.

Things You'll Need – Screwdriver, Windshield kit

Step1: Remove the screws that are used to secure the windshield hinges to the filler blocks on the side of the top section of frame with the screwdriver.

Step2: Hold onto the top of the frame and pull it up to separate it from the bottom frame. Set the top section of the frame aside.

Step 3: Remove the screws that are used to secure the windshield hinges to the filler blocks on the side of the bottom section of frame. Take off the hinges.

Step 4: Take off the windshield gasket that sits between the top and bottom section of the windshield. Remove the clamps that are securing the windshield glass to the bottom section of the frame.

Step 5: Pull out the glass and windshield kit from the bottom section of the frame. Go over to the top section of frame. Remove the clamps that are securing the windshield glass to the frame and pull out the glass and windshield kit.

Step 6: Place a new windshield kit into the bottom and top sections of the windshield frame. Insert the glass into the bottom and top section of the frame. Replace the clamps to secure the glass to the frames.

Step 7: Place a new windshield gasket on top of the glass on the bottom section of frame. Attach the hinges to the filler block on the side of the frame. Secure the hinges by tightening the screws

Step 8: Set the top section of the frame on top of the bottom section. Attach the hinges to the filler block on the side of the frame. Secure the hinges by tightening the screws.

Warnings

Any parts used with the windshield frame that are old or worn will need to be replaced.
