How to Make a Hair bow out of old T-Shirts

You can easily make a bow for your hair of any size out of old T-shirts.  You can save money and still have attractive bows to accent your hair and fashion.  This article will give you a step by step procedure for making a bow out of an old T-shirt.  This bow can be used in your hair.  It can be thread through the bottom of a chain and be used as a necklace. You can attach it to a French barrette clip and attach it to a tank top.

You will need scissors, needle and thread, head band and T-shirt fabric.

Step One;  Select the T-shirt that you want to use.  First wash and dry it.  Iron it and make it as stiff as possible.
Step Two;  Cut the T-shirt along the sides of it.  Remove the sleeves.  You will want to use both the front and the back.
Step Three;  Begin to make your bow following the directions below.

You need a piece 11 inches by 22. A ratio of 1 to 2, depending on how big you want it to be.  Fold it in half the long way.  Sew across the top with a straight stitch.  Turn it inside out.  Place the seam in the middle and straighten it out.  Turn it over and fold it in half.  The seam will be out.  Sew the open top.  Turn it inside out again.  With the seam facing you, fold it in the center.  Fold each side down to the center.  Sew it down on each side of the seam.  This makes your bow.  Make your center piece about 1 1/2 inches wide.  Fold it over and sew.  Turn it inside out.  It should be just long enough to go around the center of your bow.  Use a straight stitch up close to the bow.  Turn it inside out again and you are finished.  Now slide your hair head band through the center and fluff out your bow.

This is an excellent way to make bows of your choosing and recycle old fabric.
