Graduation is a very special event in a persons life. It is a culmination of many years of hard work. Family and friends have supported you through these years and you want them to celebrate the moment with you. A do it yourself graduation invitation is special. It shows that you took the time and effort to make special invitations for those that you want to share this moment with. This article will explain how to make a personal graduation invitation.

First, make a list of those you are going to invite. Get their correct addresses and write them down. You will need a card for each one plus a few extras, You need the extras in case you forget someone or make a mistake.

For this craft project, you will need the following items. Envelopes, black and white construction paper, scissors, snap shots of the graduating student, number two pencil, number and letter stencil, glue, small pieces of twine and colored markers. Make sure that you have the proper size envelopes, that will hold your crafted announcement.

Step One; Fold your white construction paper in half. Your card size should be 6 1/4 by 5 1/2. On the outside of your card (cover), stencil the year into the center of the top half. On the bottom stencil the word Graduation. Pick a color and color in your stencil numbers and letters.

Step Two; On the inside of the card. (left inside) glue a piece of black construction paper. Center it. Then glue the picture snapshot of the graduate into the center. You want to have a black border around your snapshot.

Step Three; On the right side of your card, add the important information. Place, time, date and any other information that you feel is important.

Step Four; With your scissors, make two holes through the open side of the card. Start with the card closed and push the holes through from the back side to the front side. If you have a small paper hole punch, this would work best.

Step Five; Take a piece of twine and push it through both holes on the backside. This will allow you to tie a bow on the front side. This will keep the card closed until it is open. This small craft idea will make your guest want to open and read what is in the middle of your card. This gives your card more of a personal appearance to it.

Step Six; When you put the card into the envelope, place it so that the side with the twine is upright by the seal of the envelope. They should be able to touch the bow as they pull the card out. You want the bow to be seen first, as the envelope is opened.

Graduation invitations, that are made from scratch, show that you put forward the extra effort for family and friends.
