How to Use Social Bookmarking to Increase your Traffic

Social bookmarking has shown that it can be a valuable Tool in the promotion of your Website or Blog. It is Free, easy and very effective at drawing traffic to your Site. Social Bookmarking is the sharing of interesting articles, websites, videos, just about anything one finds on the Internet. When you "Bookmark" something that interests you, it can be shared with people of similar interests, who in turn may pass it on--somewhat of a "snowball" effect. As people click on the Bookmarking link on your Website, the more Links you will have pointing to your Site. The more people visiting your Site--the more that may Bookmark it as well---an increase in traffic!

The first thing you must do, if not already a member, is to join a Social Bookmarking Site. The most popular are Delicious.com , Digg.com and stumbleupon.com--there are many more, these are the most popular. Make sure that you read carefully the "Rules" of the Site, and follow these. Create your Profile--Tell a little about yourself and make it interesting. A well written Profile may go a long way in leading other members to become friends, subscribe to your content, and draw their "Followers" to you also. Once you have done this, you can start making Social Bookmarking work for you.

The content must be interesting. Well written, and interesting content has a better chance of drawing traffic, and getting others to Digg, stumble, or Link to your Site.
When creating your post (On your Blog), it is important that you use your Keywords or keyword phrases in the beginning of the post--if Possible. When you Bookmark your post, you will enter the "Title", and have the opportunity to ad "Tags". Make sure you enter your keywords as tags. Several of the bookmarking Sites offer you the ability to "Comment" on the submission---do so.

Your success depends on your content being read and bookmarked, so take the time to be active in the Site. Read and comment on others submissions. Social Bookmarking Sites are like "One Big Family" sharing what interests them, commenting, visiting, and adding "Friends. These friends in turn may or maynot visit your bookmarking page, bookmark or pass on Your content ( The Snowball Effect). Any use of video, RSS, audio will only be a benefit---something else to link to your Site. With a little success, more viewers will be visiting your Website, and reading your content. This could lead to repeat traffic and referals, offer your viewers the ability to comment on your material, and email you---Interact with your viewers!! As I staed earlier, it's like one big family, use it and become involved with other members--it can benefit you greatly!

	... Thanks so much for sharing this information. I just started using social book marking sites. I use SU, Digg, Delicious and Xomba. While Xomba also allows you to write articles it is also a great way to gather all your post and bookmarks in one place. Right now I like Xomba and StumbleUpon (SU) the most. I am still trying to figure out the best way to use Digg.
