How to Bake Potatoes in the Microwave |

Intro:Â Have you ever wanted to eat a really good baked potato but found you didn't have the time to cook one for an hour? The microwave may not sound like it would cook good baked potatoes but it does. This article will show you how to do it straight from my own kitchen! Step 1:Â You can use any type of potato for this recipe but I have chosen to use Russet potatoes. I like them because they come out fluffy and are generally large. Rinse your potatoes under running water and place in a microwave safe dish. Poke each potato with a fork so it can release steam. Step 2:Â Now, brush butter over the top of each potato. Then, turn them over and brush the other side of them. You can also add a favorite seasoning, salt and/or pepper. Step 3:Â Place the microwave safe dish in the microwave and cook for about 15-20 minutes. Take them out and push a fork into each one. If the fork goes all the way through easily, the potatoes are ready for dressing. Step 4:Â Place a potato on a plate and cut it down the middle. Push both sides down. Take a knife and slice through the white fluffy part of the potato. Score it going one way and then go back and score it the other way. Top with your favorite toppings. In this picture I have added butter, sour cream and pepper. Enjoy! Tips:Â If your potatoes wind up finishing before the rest of the dinner is cooked, leave them in their dish in the microwave. The microwave will retain most of its heat for a long time if you don't open the door. Then, when you serve them, they will still be hot. Warnings:Â Don't cover your potatoes with aluminum foil and put them in the microwave. They will cause the microwave to catch fire. Â Â
