How to meet Celebrities |

1. You can meet celebrities in the strangest place. I met Chuck Berry at Harrah's casino in St. Louis. Chuck liked to play a machine close to the exit. He would smile and talk to anyone. 2. Most celebrities like to be treated as normal individuals. They don't like people spreading the word about their whereabouts. They don't like individuals begging for autographs. A simple smile and friendly wave is often enough. 3. Another place to meet them is in the public restroom. I have bumped into several, as they used it the same time as I did. Most establishments don't have special restrooms, for celebrities. 4. If you have noticed pictures by the papparazi, celebrities are always wearing sunglasses, long coats, scarfs and hats. This is for two reasons. First, to be inconspicuous. Second to harass the papparazi. 5. Many like to use side and back doors to establishments. This way, they avoid crowds. 6. Always ask first. If you want a picture, always ask first. Like anyone else, celebrities respect courtesy. Your odds increase by being polite. Finally, leave celebrities alone. They have enough people chasing after them. This will help you preserve your own self respect.

... The hotel that I worked for for years was heralded as the tallest at the time (times do change). I can't count the celebs I ran into, like Phyllis Diller right after her first face lift. The clincher however, was riding the elevator with Bob Hope twice and him speaking and I'm thinking "that voice sounds familiar!" lol Thanks for the lift. 5* for the memories. |

I never will forget the summer of 1967. I was visiting my aunt in South St. Louis. She asked me to go to a local diner and pick up some hamburgers for dinner. My route took me through a back alley. As I was going through this alley, I ran into Johnny Weismueller. He played Tarzan in the old movies. He was in St. Louis to open a health food chain. It is a day I will always remember. He talked to me for quite a while. I never got his autograph though.
