Intro: Playing your Xbox requires you to use a controller that is connected to the game console. Most of the controllers you can use connect to the console with a cable that is six feet, or longer. However, you can eliminate the need to use a cabled controller by using a wireless controller to play your Xbox.

Things You'll Need - Wireless controller

Step 1: Press the Xbox guide button on the remote to turn on the controller. The Xbox guide button is the round button with the green β€œX.”

Step 2: Press the power button on the your Xbox to turn the console on. The large round button on the console turns the power on and off.

Step 3: Press the small round button on the Xbox gaming console. This is the Connect button that is used to sync the wireless controller.

Step 4: Press the small button on the controller that is located near the front edge between the charging port and the bumper. This is the Connect button on the controller.

Step 5: Wait until you see a ring of light spin and flash on the console and the controller. This will happen one time and indicates that the controller is connected with the console.

Step 6: Repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 for additional wireless controllers that you want to connect to your Xbox gaming console.

Tips

Visit the Xbox support web site for additional information about connecting a wireless controller to your Xbox.

Warnings

You will need to connect the wireless controller to each Xbox separately if you want to use it on more than one console.
