We all know how expensive our cell phones can be, and how easy they are to be damaged. Even if you carry insurance on your phone, you still most likely will have to pay something to get it repaired. Here I am going to show you how you can save your cell phone from water damage.

Things You'll Need: Uncooked rice Cell phone

So you dropped your cell phone in the toilet, or in the sink, or spilled coffee, tea, pop etc. on your cell phone. I'm sure many of us have done this. Cell phones today are so complicated in their inner working parts that any little bit of water can damage your phone for good.

If there is a way to save your cell phone at no out of pocket expense, then we all want to do this. If you do carry insurance on your phone you have to pay a 50 dollar fee before you can get a replacement phone! Most cell phone companies have some kind of fee like this. So step #1 is when your phone gets liquid of any kind spilled on it, immediately take the battery out of the phone and dry the battery and the phone with a cloth.

Take a bowl large enough to fit your cell phone in, and fill with uncooked rice. Place your cell phone and battery in the rice and make sure they are both covered with the rice.

Leave your cell phone in the rice for an hour, or longer if needed. When the time is up take your phone out and place the battery back in your phone and turn your phone on. You should have your cell phone back. You make need longer time in the rice, depending on how much liquid you got on your phone, or how long the liquid was on your phone.

This little trick really works as the rice "draws" out the moisture from your phone, just as rice soaks up the liquid when you boil it. Try this and see, you will save yourself the purchase of a new cell phone.
