Step One; Organize your supplies. You will need tin cans, of all types. (soup, vegetable, coffee) You also need four paint brushes, red, white and blue paint, paint thinner, metal punch, decals, stencils, tape and a number 2 pencil. Step Two; Remove all labels from your tin cans and wash them clean. Set them aside to dry. Step Three; Across the top 1/4 of the open can, punch holes about 1/2 a part from each other. Go all the way around the can. Step Four; Tape off the top, middle and bottom 1/3 of the cans. Step Five; Paint the top of the can red first. Then after it drys, do the middle white. Finally, do the bottom blue. Step Six; Use your decals or stencils on the white part of the can. The number two pencil works good on the white paint. You can then use different paint for your stencils. Decorate your tin cans the way you want. Step Seven; Fill your can 2/3 full with water. Then place a floating candle inside. You can set these on your deck, picnic tables, staircase steps, counter tops, mantles and even by tombstones at your cemetery. These are great to honor former soldiers.
