How to Make Edible Candy Clay

This is a craft recipe to make edible candy clay. Candy clay is an awesome clay that you can use to make edible sculptures. You can make little figures, cute animals or pretty flowers to decorate a cake. Or you can wrap or box your edible sculptures and give them as gifts. You can also just play with your candy clay then eat your works of art right away! And you can experiment by using different flavors of extract to make different flavors of candy clay. Then you can sculpt candy bananas that actually taste like bananas or little lemons that taste like lemons! No matter how you decide to use your candy clay, you will have a blast making and eating your edible creations.

Step 1:  Gather the following ingredients to make candy clay: 1 pound of powdered confectioner's sugar, 1/3 cup of corn syrup like Karo, ½ teaspoon of salt, 1/3 cup of soft margarine, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (or other flavor extracts), food coloring.

Step 2:  Pour the corn syrup into a bowl.

Step 3:  Add the margarine to the corn syrup and mix well.

Step 4:  Add the salt, the vanilla extract, and a few drops of food coloring to the mixture and mix until well blended.

Step 5:  Add some of the powdered confectioner's sugar and mix well.

Step 6:  Continue adding the powdered confectioner's sugar a bit at a time and mixing until you have a fairly stiff dough. If the mixture is too wet or sticky, just add more confectioner's sugar.

Step 7:  Sculpt your candy clay into whatever shapes you desire.

Step 8:  Store any remaining candy clay in a covered container or a zip lock baggie in the refrigerator. It will keep for several weeks.
