How to Make Edible Chocolate Clay

This is an craft recipe for edible chocolate clay. Edible chocolate clay is chocolate that is pliable and can be molded into
people figures, flowers, animal shapes or whatever your creative mind can dream up! You can sculpt chocolate figures to use as cake decorations or you can sculpt chocolate figures then wrap them in clear wrap or box them and give them as gifts. You and your kids will love making and using up this homemade chocolate clay. And you can make different colors of chocolate chocolate clay by using white chocolate chips and stirring in a few drops of food coloring just before you add the corn syrup in Step 5 below.

Step 1:  Gather the following ingredients to make edible chocolate clay: 10 ounces of semi sweet chocolate chips, 1/3 cup light corn syrup like Karo.

Step 2:  Put the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl.

Step 3:  Heat the chocolate chips in the microwave on high for 1 minute.

Step 4:  Stir the chocolate chips and heat again for 15 seconds at a time, checking after each 15 seconds to see if the chocolate chips are completely melted.

Step 5:  Stir in the corn syrup.

Step 6:  Spread the melted chocolate concoction out about ½ thick on wax paper.

Step 7:  Gently cover the top of the chocolate with another piece of wax paper to protect it.

Step 8:  Let the chocolate set overnight on the counter (do not refrigerate).

Step 9:  After the chocolate has set, remove the wax paper and start sculpting!
