How to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Food |

St. Patrick's Day is fun because we all get dressed up in green and think green all day. I don't know where the pinching idea came into the picture, but I wear green to avoid that. It is fun to think of ways to bring the green theme into food without making it disgusting. Don't do green food coloring in everything, because green gravy on green mashed potatoes doesn't look appetizing. Here is a list of ideas that will hopefully spark some ideas of your own to celebrate this Day of Luck Of the Irish Green. Have Fun! Step 1Prepare a packaged White Cake Mix and add drops of green food coloring in it. Pour batter into a prepared pans shamrock cake pan (Can buy these at a Wilton Cake aisle in Craft Stores or Discount Stores). Frost it with green frosting and decorate with green colored sugar or green tinted coconut. Make the cake into cupcakes and do the same! Easy! Cute! Step 2Use a shamrock shaped biscuit/cookie cutter and bake baking powder biscuits. Step 3Make toast, then again, using a shamrock shaped biscuit/cookie cutter, cut out the shape in the middle of the bread. Step 4Serve any drinks that are green for the day including but not limited to: Green Koolaid, lemonade with green food coloring in it, green punch, green tea, etc. Step 5Make lime green Jell-O in a shamrock shaped jello mold. OR make lime green Knox Blox in shamrock shapes by using a shamrock shaped biscuit cutter when set. Step 6I know that Heinz used to make Ketchup in a green color (taste is no different from red). See if your store still carries this product. Kids love Ketchup in different colors. Step 7Here is a long list of more green food ideas to serve at your St. Pat's Day party: Pickles and green olivesSpinach salad Lime sherbet Honey Dew Melon Broccoli Salad Pistachio Muffins Pistachio Salad Step 8
Now it's your turn to add more ideas to what I've given you. Have a Happy St. Pat's Day!
