Introduction: Ticks pose a serious problem to pet health, but you can remove ticks from a pet easily if you know a few simple tricks.

Step 1: You can remove ticks from a pet by first cutting the hair from the affected area using a pair of scissors, this allows for a better line of sight.

Step 2: To remove ticks from a pet, using a pair of tweezers grasp the tick close to your pet's skin and pull it out in a straight motion - do not twist.

Step 3: If the tick is removed intact, put an antibiotic ointment on the wound to help it heal.

Step 4: If a tick breaks and part of it remains in your pet, place a drop of hydrogen peroxide on the site and wait a day or two. The wound will become slightly infected, and then you can remove a tick from your pet by squeezing the site with your thumbs.

Step 5: If you remove a few ticks from your pet, examine the animal closely for other possible areas of infestation.

Tips: Never kill a tip by squashing it between your fingers - they carry disease and you could be infected.

Warnings: Contrary to popular belief, never remove a tick from your pet by placing a hot match head on the site - you will burn your pet and cause it greater pain!!!
