play doh recipe

This is a craft recipe for bread modeling dough. This bread modeling dough is an excellent dough for making small creations like dolls hands and feet, small pieces of jewelry, flowers, or for adding decorative touches to boxes, photo frames and other objects. This recipe will make enough bread modeling dough to make two or three small works of art. If you need more dough, just make more!

Step 1:  Gather the following ingredients to make bread modeling dough: 2 slices of white bread, 2 tablespoons of white glue, 2 drops of glycerine, 4 drops of white vinegar, food coloring or poster paint.

Step 2:  Remove the crusts from the bread and toss them (or eat them).

Step 3:  Break the bread into small pieces and put in a bowl.

Step 4:  Add the white glue, the glycerine and the vinegar to the bread.

Step 5:  Mix the dough with your hands until it no longer sticks to your fingers.

Step 6:  Divide the dough and add a few drops of food coloring to each portion if you want colored dough. Knead the food coloring in. If you want to skip the food coloring step you can paint your finished creations with poster paint instead.

Step 7:  Create your works of art then let them dry for 1 to 2 days or until they are dry and hard. They will dry with a smooth satiny finish.

Step 8:  Store any leftover bread modeling dough in plastic bags in the refrigerator. It will keep for a long time.
