Everyone has a phobia of some extent. There is no one on earth who can say they don't. To overcome the phobia of dying is to first understand where the fear is coming from. May it be a past tragedy, fear of the unknown, or losing control of one's life, the following article will help to ease the overwhelming feeling of death.

Taking Note

1. In a journal write down everything that is overwhelming you about dying. Take your time, making sure not to push yourself if you are uncomfortable with the subject. Once ready make note of all that bothers you about the dying process. Ask yourself if it is the idea of dying, the fear of losing control of your body, or just leaving family members behind. I have always had the fear of losing control since I am a control freak.  Don't worry about proper grammar, or spelling while writing, just focus on the matter at hand.

Research

2.  After taking note, do some research on the subject of dying. You will find many others also have the same phobia you have. Research the subject whether it be reading literature, or researching on the internet.

Seek Out Help

3. Connecting with others who have the same phobia will help overcome your anxiety. You will find many other people have the same phobia and need to talk. Meet people online or find a support group will help overcome the anxiety. Many people will have different view points and opinions on the subject so try to be open minded if possible.  I believe the most important way to overcome the phobia of death is to build faith. Build faith spiritually by seeking out God and Christ for answers. Remember Christ died for our sins so we could have salvation and a chance to live forever.

Tips:  Remember you are not alone in this world and there is help for everyone. Keep in mind all the good things in life and live each day to its fullest.  Start a hobby, or an activity you and family may enjoy.

I am one person that is actually afraid to die. Plus, everyone around me laughs at me for being afraid of fur and animals. I am petrified of them.
