You can make awesome Halloween Trick or Treat bags for the ghosts and goblins that come knocking on your door on Halloween night and it does not have to cost you a small fortune! These Trick or Treat bags will not only delight your little visiting monsters but it will also keep them coming back every year! Step 1: PLAN EARLY! You need to plan early to make your Halloween bags. In fact, you should start buying items for next year's Halloween bags the day after Halloween! Many Halloween items such as decorative stickers, plastic toys, colorful bags, etc., will be marked down as much as 75% off. Stock up on anything that is non-perishable and save it for next year! Step 2: BUY CHEAP BAGS! If you can't afford to give a lot, you CAN afford to make it look like a lot! The trick is in the packaging. Buy some brown paper lunch bags to put the Halloween treats in. Cut off the top of the bags to make them a bit shorter. You can use pinking shears or other decorative scissors to give the top of the bag a fancy look. Or you can cut slits all along the top of the bag to make a fringed top which is very fancy! Step 3: DECORATE THE BAGS! Use markers, rubber stamps or stickers to decorate the bags. You can even embellish the bags with construction paper cut outs. Also look around at the dollar stores for orange or black ribbon that you can use to tie off the tops of the bags. Can't find any cheap ribbon? Use yarn! Start getting the bags ready during the summer. It's a great craft you can do with your kids. Step 4: BUY CHEAP CANDY! If you buy candy to put in the Halloween Trick or Treat bags you need to make sure it's fresh. But you can start looking around several months before Halloween and just check the expiration dates. You do not have to buy the typical Halloween candy because your candy will be in the decorative bag. So save money by buying large bags of every day candy. Step 5: BUY OTHER CHEAP TREATS! If you do not like handing out candy you can put other types of treats in the bags like stickers, pencils, pennies, little plastic toys, tattoos, etc. Just look around all year for really cheap items and stock up when you find things on sale! Step 6: FILL THE BAGS! When it gets close to Halloween it's time to start to fill your Trick or Treat bags. If you happen to have boy specific items or girl specific items you can tie off the boy bags with black ribbon or yarn and tie off the girl bags with orange ribbon or yarn. If you use ribbon be sure you curl it with your scissors! Even if you have only one tiny item in the bag they kids eyes will pop when they see just how decorative the Halloween bag is! Step 7: ADD A SPECIAL TOUCH! If you want to add a very special touch to your Halloween bags you can add a little hang tag that says something like "Happy Halloween from the Smiths" or some other little saying. Step 8: REMEMBER THIS! To make the best and the cheapest Halloween Trick or Treat bags you have to shop all year long! Then when others are scrambling around at the last minute to buy treats for the kids you can sit back and relax because you're done! See my other helpful articles!
