How to Make Your First Impression Work |

1: As mentioned in my other article, posture is everything. So when you enter a room make sure that you are walking tall, straight, and with a positive attitude. 2: The next most noticeable thing people see “if not the first sometimes” is your smile. There are actually three levels to a smile. There is the very broad smile that is used mostly by children. Second, there is a nice smile that still shows off your teeth just not as large, but yet still very pleasant. This one is used mostly by teens and young adults. Third, there is a smile through the lips alone, that shows no teeth. This one tends to be more popular with those over 40. No matter which one you use, always make sure that your smile isn't so large that it exposes the gum line. This can all be practiced in a mirror. 3: Now you've walked in straight and tall. You've floored them with your smile. Now comes the handshake. You should simply extend your arm as you continue to look them in the eye and smile. As they take your hand, see to it that your grip is firm but not over baring or challenging. Adjust your pressure to theirs, but never under any circumstance allow a limp or lifeless hand shake. 4: When shaking hands, make sure that you only give them two very short and quick shakes. Then end it. Anything longer will be a little annoying to most. 5: Remember how you sit when asked to. Keep good eye contact, but obviously not a leering or gazing. As you smile while in conversation, do so slowly. It makes your smile more genuine. 6: Once your meeting is over, exit promptly. Don’t hang around for any unwarranted reason. This will then leave them with the same impression you greeted them with.

... Very interesting article. This is what I would call a gentleman or a lady. We must make sure we are sincere in the way we act and not fake. People can pick up on this a mile away. I'm not comfortable talking to loud people either. Don't try and be center of attention. Enjoyed reading this, very nice. 5* |
