Introduction: The best home remedies for acid reflux not only stop the immediate pain, but keep it from returning. These remedies are common to every household kitchen, and usually work like a charm.

Step 1: The best home remedies for acid reflux are to make lifestyle changes, such as eating smaller meals and stop the use of coffee, tobacco and alcohol.

Step 2: Drinking a glass of ginger ale will make an individual belch, which relieves the gas pressure that causes pain associated with acid reflux.

Step 3: A few ounces of coconut milk or butter milk an hour before bed time will coat the digestive tract and relieve symptoms of acid reflux.

Step 4: One of the best home remedies for acid reflux is to wear loose clothing as often as possible to reduce pressure on the abdomen.

Step 5: If acid reflux is an issue at night especially, sleep in an elevated position and use gravity to keep stomach acid in it's place.

Tips: Try eating foods that can "put out the fire" in acid reflux, such as carrots, peas and bananas.

Warnings: Severe cases of acid reflux should be treated by a physician - it can lead to esophageal cancer in some instances.

Good article on Acid reflux. Breathing fire from the heart burn cause by acid reflux is just plain awful and sometimes can make you sick to your tummy. Prevention is the best method of treatment, so I do my best to stay away from the yummy hot foods.
