How to Make Dyed Hair Color Last Longer

Whether you dye your hair at home or have it colored in a salon, you want to make your beautiful new color last as long as possible! Here are some steps you can take to get the most out of that bottle of hair dye!

Step 1:  USE SUNSCREEN IN YOUR HAIR -- The sun can quickly fade your dyed hair color and can even change the shade of your hair. There are many hair products available now with built in sunscreen such as hair spray, conditioners, gels, mousse, etc.

Step 2:  USE GENTLE WATER PRESSURE -- It's not always the water you are using that fades your hair color but the pressure of the water! Don't let the water from your shower beat down on your head. Use a gently spray and only put your head under the water to wet it and to rinse it.

Step 3:  INSTALL A SHOWER WATER FILTER -- You can buy an inexpensive water filter for your shower head. It will filter out chemicals that can fade your hair color or that can damage your hair. It's also a good idea to filter the water for your skin too! A water filter is cheap to buy and easy as a snap to install.
