Intro:  You can use rosehips, olive oil, and other herbal essences to make luscious soap balls.  The olive oil in this recipe helps soothe dry, irritated, itchy skin.  The aloe vera and honey help lock in the moisture, while the sandalwood and vitamin E impart anti-aging properties.  The rosehips, of course, add the fragrance.

Step 1:  Lightly grease small silicone soap molds or silicone mini muffin pans with either canola or peanut oil.

Step 2:  Chop 5½ ounces of soft olive oil soap and place in a double boiler.  Stir until melted.

Step 3:  Remove the melted soap from the heat and stir in 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon rosehip oil, 10 drops of essential oil of sandalwood, 10 drops of essential oil of patchouli, and the contents of 1 500-IU vitamin E capsule.  Mix well.

Step 4:  Pour soap mixture into your greased pan(s).

Step 5:  Place in a cool, dark place and allow to harden for 1 week.  (Note:  This soap will remain somewhat soft.)

Step 6:  Run a knife around the edge of the soap balls to remove from the pan(s).

Tips:

•You can get decorative soap molds at arts and crafts stores.  Use these as guest soaps or as gifts.

Warnings:  Do not use metal pans, because it is too difficult to remove the soap balls.
